STARTING WITH A LOOK AT LIFE AND A LAUGH
Post number 1 - January 1st 2023
Ear, ear, this is take one of my life pics 💚
It is written that you come into life with nothing and you leave life with nothing … but by golly it can be fun in between …
Life is a terminal disease …
Exactly how much you fit into that life is dependent on so many factors … it is different for every person ... it is easy to say life is what you make it and I guess there is some truth in that … but sometimes the cards you get dealt are more likely to determine an outcome …
Every person is an individual with an individual personality and this helps set what life may be like as the years unfold …
Genes come into it … not everyone is born with an equal fill of life abilities, that is sad but very true … When I was a bus commuter I once read on a bus ticket quote, 'God must love stupid people, he made so many of them' … harsh but er, um, ok we will leave that one right there …
Some use the understanding of a tough upbringing as to why certain life events play out as they do … while it would be easy to brush that off as an excuse, for some it is reality … hard life lessons shape the future and for many working outside of that understanding is simply not possible … the scars of life become entrenched …
Compulsions either genetic or learned impact greatly … they are everywhere, I mean, a clean house is generally a sign of a misspent life ...
Health impacts, education opportunities impact, love support and care impact, socioeconomic trends impact, so much in fact can impact and once the pathways of life are set it can be hard to navigate away from that … some manage, some don't …
Life diversity makes up this human race, it is a very, very complex area and really needs much understanding ...
It is easy to judge others but walk a mile in their shoes before you dare to pigeon-hole them, be empathetic and understand the diversity and complexities of what determines a certain type of personality …
And throughout life we meet many of these diverse personality folk … one friend from days past was always sincere, even if he didn't mean it … and he had a life theory, he would say “Where there's a will, there are 500 relatives” ...
My life mantra is keep it simple, be kind, be nice, be supportive and offer love and at no stage judge … now, have I personally always lived that code in my 68 years? ... sadly not, not even close at times but age teaches lessons and through the aches and pains and illness of an old body I can see things so much more clearly …
When I wore a younger man's clothes I was guilty of saying to people, “Take my advice, I mean, you may as well have it because I'm not using it.” …
And then I guess some of us never really grow up, we just learn how to act in public …
For me I had an unfortunate beginning to life in November 1954, I was no sooner delivered by my Mum and guess what? The doctor smacked me … probably related to Umpire Vernon I'm thinking …
Having spent my seven years of primary school at a catholic school run by Josephite nuns, I learned to roll with the punches … literally … but it taught me some valuable life lessons … one nun told me I was stupid, so from that day on I guess my personality was set in stone, I was stupid, insane even …
But as my life unfolded over the years I came to understand that I did not suffer from insanity, I enjoyed every minute of it …
Now as this awkward cognitive season takes hold of life I know I do have a head full of memories to keep me level and balanced ... how it plays out, who knows but what I do know is that I will drag this out for as long as I can ... I reckon I still have more to add and the fun ain't over just yet ...
I guess I took a long time to learn the life rules but hey, I'm not too old to play the game ,..
So Happy New Year and to launch this JonnyG Remembers blog heading into 2023 I will leave you with this thought …
A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory …
